From May 11–15, the University of Zielona Góra will host the international Blended Intensive Programme “From Chaos to Harmony in Complex Systems”. The programme will be preceded by a virtual component scheduled for May 6–7. This is the third event in the Complex Systems series, which combines the perspective of complex systems with the social, natural, and exact sciences. This year’s edition focuses on the transition from apparent chaos to emergent order. Participants will explore the mechanisms through which disordered systems begin to exhibit structure, synchronization, and coherent collective behaviour.
The programme will bring together students and academic staff from the University of Zielona Góra as well as from Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Lithuania, Romania, and Ukraine. The international character of the event will create a space for the exchange of experiences, scientific collaboration, and the joint search for analogies between physical, biological, and social phenomena.
The programme has a strongly interdisciplinary character and is organized by staff members representing various university units. A leading role in the preparation of the event is played by the Institute of Biology, the Institute of Sociology, and the Institute of Physics. The programme coordinators representing these institutes are Dr. Magdalena Pokrzyńska, Dr. hab. Sylwia Kondej, Professor of the University of Zielona Góra, and Dr. Sylwia Andrzejczak-Grządko. The organization of the programme also involves the Institute of Astronomy, the Institute of Mathematics, the Institute of Pedagogy, and the Institute of Sport, Tourism and Human Nutrition.
An important element of the programme is the cooperation with non-university partners, including the Głogowska Edukacja Kresowa Association and the Gardens of Art Foundation in Zatonie. Thanks to this collaboration, the event combines scientific, educational, social, and cultural dimensions.
The programme will include lectures, workshops, and discussion sessions held both within university facilities — on both campuses and at the Rectorate building — as well as outside the university, including the Prince’s Park in Zatonie. “From Chaos to Harmony in Complex Systems” provides a unique opportunity to strengthen international academic cooperation and to promote interdisciplinary reflection on the complex processes shaping the contemporary world.
