From 6 to 15 May 2026, the international Blended Intensive Programme From Chaos to Harmony in Complex Systems took place at the University of Zielona Góra. The programme began with an online component on 6–7 May and continued with on-site activities in Zielona Góra from 11–15 May 2026.
This was the third edition of a three-year BIP cycle devoted to complex systems, implemented at the University of Zielona Góra during the years 2024–2026, as part of the celebrations of the 25th anniversary of the University of Zielona Góra.
Three university units played a leading role in the preparation and implementation of the programme: the Institute of Sociology, the Institute of Biological Sciences, and the Institute of Physics, represented by the coordinators Dr Sylwia Andrzejczak-Grządko, Dr Magdalena Pokrzyńska, and Dr hab. Sylwia Kondej, Prof. UZ. The cooperation between these units gave the programme its interdisciplinary character by combining perspectives from social sciences, natural sciences, and exact sciences.
As in previous years, the Institute of Physics of the University of Zielona Góra also played an important role during this final edition of the cycle. The scientific programme was opened with a lecture delivered by Prof. Przybylska. One of the programme elements was also a meeting and discussion with Prof. Andrzej Drzewiński in Zatonie, presenting his perspective both as a scientist and as a writer. Participants also had the opportunity to attend liquid nitrogen demonstrations prepared by Dr Jerzyniak and Mr Kruk. Dr hab. Sylwia Kondej, Prof. UZ was also involved in organizing and moderating parts of the programme.
The programme brought together professors, researchers, practitioners, and students from Poland and abroad, including representatives of partner universities from the Czech Republic, Romania, Bulgaria, Lithuania, and Ukraine. The activities included lectures, workshops, discussions, and field activities, demonstrating how the concept of complex systems can be applied in social sciences, exact sciences, natural sciences, and the humanities.
The on-site part of the programme took place in various locations at the University of Zielona Góra as well as outside the university, including Zatonie and the palace and park area. The event created a space for international exchange of knowledge, experiences, and perspectives.
The completed edition confirmed that the University of Zielona Góra is a place open to dialogue, cooperation, and interdisciplinary approaches to addressing the challenges of the contemporary world.
