At the turn of February and March, two complementary and mutually reinforcing events dedicated to Polish–Romanian cooperation in the fields of science, education, and academic dialogue will take place. Their interdisciplinary character stems from the programmatic concept developed by the project coordinators, Magdalena Pokrzyńska and Sylwia Kondej, who represent the disciplines of sociology and physics, respectively, and who integrate perspectives from the social sciences, exact sciences, and natural sciences.
One of the events will be the Polish–Romanian Science Festival, the central highlight of which will be the Polish–Romanian Solidarity Day, scheduled for March 3. The Festival will take place in Zielona Góra and Głogów, with the participation of representatives of diplomatic and academic communities from Poland and Romania.
The second event will be the Polish–Romanian spring school entitled Borderlands of Cooperation: Polish–Romanian Spring School Studying the Interference of Culture, Science, and Art, to be held in Zielona Góra and Alba Iulia, with the participation of students from the University of Zielona Góra and “1 December 1918” University of Alba Iulia.
The program of the school will include interdisciplinary workshops, lectures, laboratories, and scientific and educational demonstrations. A key element of the program will be lectures delivered by Professor Drzewiński, who combines the perspectives of a physicist and a science fiction writer and will conduct classes both in Zielona Góra and in Alba Iulia.
Both initiatives are implemented with the key involvement of the University of Zielona Góra, including the Institute of Physics and the Institute of Sociology, and form part of the celebrations marking the 25th anniversary of the University. The projects are carried out in cooperation with academic and institutional partners from Poland and Romania.
