From October 21 to 24, the 16th edition of the international conference Workshop on Current Problems in Physics (WCPP) took place, an event established as an annual scientific meeting, organized alternately by the Institute of Physics at the University of Zielona Góra and the Department of Physics at Ivan Franko University in Lviv. This year’s edition was held under the auspices of the Rector of the University of Zielona Góra, Prof. Wojciech Strzyżewski, and the Vice-Rector, Prof. Justyna Patalas-Maliszewska, who formally opened the conference.

The event welcomed guests from various research institutions, including those from Lviv, Olomouc, Hradec Kralove, Poznań, and Częstochowa. Active participants also represented the University of Zielona Góra’s Institute of Physics, Institute of Astronomy, of Automation, Electronics and Electrical Engineering, and Institute of Mechanical Engineering.

The conference program included several specialized sessions, notably two dedicated to the Regional Excellence Initiative (RID) project, during which participants presented results obtained during the grant’s implementation. Additionally, a separate session was devoted to young scientists, with active participation from students.

This year’s WCPP focused primarily on two research areas: quantum theory and materials physics. Accompanying WCPP’24 were satellite events, including a series of lectures and workshops on quantum programming, led by Prof. Tkachuk and Prof. Gnatenko from Ivan Franko University in Lviv.
